I am thinking of doing what is shown in the picture:
Random Book Titles written on bright paper and dropped into a big jar - so that any who wish to try something NEW or DIFFERENT can reach in and pick out a book to try.

If anyone has recommendations please comment below and these too will go into the jar so someone can pull them out and enjoy.

Merry Xmas and a here's to a
Safe,

SLANZA Conference report

Hi All,

Boy what a conference it was - in Balclutha 16-17 October.
Librarians from All over NZ and one even from Tonga came together in the big smoke of Balclutha.
We had some amazing/inspirational speakers and lots of good treats to eat... Networking with like minded library colleagues. This was a great conference and it was very well run.

Tanya Batt

sacredearthnz.com
- Authour and Storyteller extraordinaire!!!!   Such enthusiasm, talent and fire in a tiny package - her storytelling had all of us (105) in hysterics and even had some of us helping out with her tales.
If you EVER get the chance to witness this amazingly talented woman DO IT - don't miss out on her exuberance and talent.

Julie Woods

successnet.czcommunity.com
- "That Blind Woman"
- WOW - this was a personal highlight for me.
Inspirational and motivational to say the least. Her talk gave us goosebumps and made us all think Yes   "WHY NOT" instead of NO, no way!!!!!

Bob Docherty - "Bob's Books"

foslibrary.blogspot.com
This man is a legend - his talks / reports on books he has read make the books fly off the shelves!!
His memory retention and reading ability is outstanding
His job is to read books, then report on them and you are never bored,  but are left wanting more of what he has read !!!

These are only 3 of the 9 speakers we had over the two days. It was a full conference and I made loads of contacts. We Libarians are a great group of creative people and I am happy to be one of them.

Have ideas galore for displays - Watch this space :)
